Jamaica Needs Volunteers for Non-Emergency Support During the COVID – 19 Emergency
Neighborhood Connections has asked for Jamaica residents to raise a volunteer group that will perform non-emergency tasks during the COVID – 19 pandemic. Non-emergency tasks will supplement those of neighborhood self help networks when needed and/or fill in when illness and quarantine limit local neighborhood activity. The specific non-emergency tasks include:
• Deliver groceries, medications and mail to self-quarantined homes • Call neighbors that need daily monitoring • Fill in for Jamaica Village School parents they are unable to pickup school meals • Drive patients with non-COVID – 19 conditions that need transportation to doctor’s appointments
Strict Protocols will be followed to ensure that volunteers are kept safe and do not spread COVID -19. Neighborhood Connections will manage non-emergency support, screening calls for help for non-emergency help, assigning tasks to available volunteers, and determining COVID – 19 status of those calling for help and volunteers. We are calling for volunteers and will maintain a list of those available for each specific non-emergency tasks.
If you can help, please provide your name, the tasks you are willing to undertake, your telephone number, and availability times to one of the contact persons listed below. Also, please pass this information on to any friends and neighbors who may not have seen this announcement yet. Your contact information will be kept confidential and shared only with Neighborhood Connections.
